Create different reward models

When you create a Refer-a-Friend campaign on Partnero, it can have multiple individual rewards that trigger and end at different times.

This functionality allows you to create tiered rewards and reward steps, such as:

  • using different trigger events for the customer and the referral;
  • offering tiered rewards based on how many sales or signups a customer has generated;
  • offering rewards a set number of times, days, months, or lifetime;
  • offering fixed or %-based rewards for different triggers;
  • offering referral program steps that customers can achieve to increase their rewards
    and more!

Below we'll explore a few models to give you some ideas and instructions on how it can be achieved:

Example #1: Increasing reward after a customer hits X referrals.
Example #2: Customer receives a %-based reward for any transaction within X months.
Example #3: Trigger variations: referral gets $X after signup, customer gets $X after a sale.

Example #1

Increasing the reward after a customer hits X referrals

This model allows you to motivate and incentivize customers to put more effort into promoting your product by offering a reward increase after a customer hits a certain number of referrals. The number of rewards you have to create depends on how many steps your model has.

This example has three steps:

  1. For the first 10 referrals, the customer gets $15.
  2. For the 11th-50th  referrals, the customer gets $25.
  3. For the 51st and further referrals, the customer gets $50.

Set up Step 1:

  1. Log in to Partnero.
  2. Under Programs, open the referral program you'd like to work with.
  3. Go to Rewards under Referral.
  4. Click New reward.
  5. Set the conditions within the modal. The key conditions required for this step are:

    Trigger: Signup
    Start of the trigger: Immediately
    End of the trigger: After 10 occurrencesCustomer reward should be set to Static, commission amount - 15.
    We will not offer referral rewards in this model, so it can simply be left as 0.
  6. Click Create.

Set up Step 2:

  1. Return to Rewards under Referrals.
  2. Click New Reward.
  3. The key here is to set the 2nd step to begin after 10 occurrences and end after 50: This way, the 2nd step of rewards starts when the 1st step ends.
  4. Set the customer reward to $25:
  5. Finalize the modal and click Create.

Set up Step 3:

  1. As in Step 2, create another reward. Then set the Start of the trigger to 50 recurrences and the customer reward to $50:
  2. Click Create.

    After following these steps, your Rewards section should have three separate rewards for each step of this model:

Example #2

Customer receives a %-based reward for any transaction within X months

This model offers a variation of a traditional Refer-a-Friend program and is especially motivating if you're selling products or services at different pricing levels. Since the customer receives a %-based reward, it means the bigger the transaction of the referral, the bigger the reward for the customer.

The example will offer a 20% reward for any transaction made by the referral for the first three months.

To create this model:

  1. Go to Rewards under Referral.
  2. Click New reward.
  3. Set the conditions within the modal. The key conditions required for this model are:

    Trigger: Sale
    Reward recurrence: 3 months
  4. Customer reward should be set to Percentage, 20:
  5. Click Create.

Example #3

Trigger variations: referral gets $X after signup, customer gets $X after a sale

A single reward on Partnero can only have one trigger. In order to trigger rewards for the customer and the referral at different times, you'll need to set up two separate rewards - one for the customer and one for the referral.

This example will offer the referral $10 after they sign up. The customer will get $10 after a sale (after the referral makes a purchase).

Step 1: Customer reward

  1. Go to Rewards under Referral.
  2. Click New reward.
  3. Set the conditions within the modal. The key conditions required for this model are:

    Trigger: Sale
    Reward recurrence: 1 time
    Reward: Currency
  4. Set the Customer reward to Static, 10.
    Referral reward should be left as 0, since the Sale does not trigger a reward for the referral.
  5. Click Create.

Step 2: Customer reward

  1. In the Rewards section, click New reward.
  2. Set the conditions within the modal. The key conditions required for this model are:

    Trigger: Signup
    Reward recurrence: 1 time
    Reward: Currency
  3. Set the Referral reward to Static, 10.
    Leave the Customer reward as 0 since the customer does not receive a reward for a signup.
  4. Click Create.
