Multi-level commission

What is multi-level affiliate commission?

Multi-level (or multi-tier) affiliate commission is a compensation structure where affiliates are rewarded not only for the sales they directly generate but also for the sales made by affiliates they've referred to the program.
This structure encourages affiliates to focus on generating sales themselves and recruiting and supporting other affiliates. Affiliates can earn additional commissions from the sales generated by their referral network, creating a cascading effect where affiliates can earn passive income from the efforts of those they've recruited.

How does multi-level commission work?

When someone signs up for your affiliate program through an existing affiliate’s referral link, the original affiliate is automatically recorded as the  referring partner. No additional integration is needed.

Both the direct affiliate and the referring affiliate receive their full commission amounts independently. The multi-level commission is always added on top of the default commission, ensuring fair compensation for affiliates at all levels.

Example:

  • The general commission is 20% for the affiliate who made the sale.
  • The multi-level commission is 10% for the referring affiliate.

The two amounts are added together, so the total commission to be paid would be 30% (20% to the referred affiliate who brought the customer + 10% to the referring affiliate).

How to set up multi-level commission

⚠️ Important: Please note that the partner portal must have your domain connected in order for this feature to be available. Here's how to do that. The program website domain and the partner portal domain have to match.

To enable multi-level commission for your program:

  1. Open your affiliate program and go to Settings under Program, and scroll down to Commission.
  2. Toggle to Enable multi-level affiliate commission
  3. Click Set up commission to define the reward:
  4.  Click Save and then Update to apply changes:

Allow affiliates to see the partners they referred

You can choose to display a list of referred affiliates to the affiliate who referred them. This allows affiliates to see who they’ve brought into the program.

To enable the referred affiliates table:

  1. Go to Partner Portal → Settings and scroll down to the Partner permissions section
  2. Toggle Show referred partners table
  3. Click Update to publish changes.
Note: This setting is only available if multi-level commissions are enabled and configured. By default, the referred affiliates table is not shown

When enabled, affiliates will see a new referred partners table in the Referrals section of the partner portal:
